In this piece Kolawole Niyi paints a young female teacher. Part of his humanity series he shows different aspects of simple human life with his unique art style. It?s an interesting fact that the first teacher in Nigeria was an art teacher named Aina Onabolu (1882 ? 1963). He was a pioneering Nigerian modern arts teacher and painter who was an important figure in the introduction of arts into the curriculum of secondary schools in the country. He promoted the drawing of environmental forms in an authenticity style and was known for his early modern work in portraiture. Aina is also the great-grandfather of Canadian pop singer Joseph Onabolu.
