Ijaw people (also known by the subgroups “Ijo” or “Izon”) are people in Niger Delta in Nigeria. The owigiri dance( as done in the painting) originated in 1985 through a particular music composed by a foremost Izon musician in Bayelsa State, Nigeria called Professor I.K. Belemu.
